Volunteer/Coaches Requirements
Thank you for volunteering with WYSA! We appreciate your time and commitment to the sport and our players.
US Soccer requires all volunteers to complete a series of registrations and trainings before stepping on the field for practice or games. These requirements have been established by federal, state, and local organizations and are intended to protect players and volunteers alike.
The requirements include:
- A dual registration process with both Westborough Youth Soccer Association (WYSA) and Massachusetts Youth Soccer Association (MYSA). Your registration through MYSA initiates a background check.
- CORI Verification
- SafeSport Abuse Prevention Training
- Concussion Training
The whole process takes 2-3 hours to complete. Once successfully completed, volunteers are certified to coach and will receive a credential/lanyard that is valid for the entire soccer season (a soccer season runs Fall - Spring).
This page is assuming you have already registered to volunteer. This typically happens during child registration. If you have not registered to volunteer yet, please register to volunteer.
Important: Make sure you register with the same email address and full, legal name on all websites. These sites communicate information to each other (such as trainings completed), and require the same information in all places.
Please bookmark your Compliance Dashboard to keep track of your compliance status as you complete requirements.
Before you start, login to this WYSA website (using "Login" in the top right corner).
For ALL Volunteers / Coaches
Once per year, you must re-register with Mass Youth Soccer. This is an ANNUAL REQUIREMENT, which means you MUST DO IT EVERY YEAR. Please make sure you have registered with MYSA THIS YEAR before reaching out for help. You will know this registration is complete when you receive an email from MYSA acknowledging your registration.
> Register with MYSA
For New Volunteers / Coaches Only
There are a one-time requirements for coaching/volunteering with WYSA and MYSA.
Before you start, you'll need:
- A Headshot Photo - you will be asked to upload a photo that is of passport quality (no sunglasses, hats, busy background, or other people/family members in the photo). Need help?
- A Government Issued ID
> Register with MYSA if you haven't already
Please complete the registration through the link above. Only use this link if you have never registered with MYSA before (ie never coached before). During registration, select Westboro Youth Soccer Association (WYSA) as your volunteer organization.
> Print your CORI forms
To complete the verification process you must have a hard copy of your CORI Acknowledgement Form and a government issued ID in hand. Here are instructions for how to print your CORI Acknowledgement Form:
- In Mass Youth Soccer, click on 'MyAccount' on the top right.
- Select the "Applications" tab.
- Next to ADULT/CORI Registration, click on 'Receipt & Forms'. The document that pops up is your CORI Acknowledgement Form.
> Email the Risk Manager at [email protected] to coordinate a time and place to verify your CORI. This step validates that the information provided during the background check and CORI match the government issued ID and the person registering to volunteer. This typically only needs to be done once during a coach's career.
For Returning Volunteers / Coaches Only
Once per year, you must re-register with Mass Youth Soccer. This is an ANNUAL REQUIREMENT, which means you MUST DO IT EVERY YEAR. You will know this registration is complete when you receive an email from MYSA acknowledging your registration.
> Register with MYSA if you haven't already
If you have already registered with MYSA this year (for example, you registered during the Fall and it is the Spring season):
>Login to MYSA
You will need to login to the MYSA portal. If you believe you have an account, do NOT create a new one. Use the "Forget Password" link to retrieve your password, contact the Risk Manager, or call the US Soccer Connect helpline at 800-808-7195 or 855-703-2558.
For All Volunteers
The following requirements are for all new or returning volunteers / coaches.
> SafeSport Abuse Prevention Training
SafeSport Abuse Prevention Training is an annual training requirement. Either login (if you have an existing account) or register, then proceed to complete the assigned courses.
> US Soccer Connect Safe and Healthy Playing Environment Training
Concussion training is required every two years. If needed, please take the training.
> Check your Compliance Dashboard. If it looks like this, you're all set! (Note that CORI Verified can only be done by the Risk Manager).
Credentials (lanyards): After all coaching requirements are completed, the Risk Manager will print a credential, valid for one soccer year, and coordinate pick-up through email. Again, all coaches must complete the registration and training requirements in order to be issued a valid credential. Credentials are required to coach and must be presented to the referees on game days. They also should be available during practices
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Q: I think I've finished all of the requirements, why aren't I cleared?
A: 90% of the emails we receive are related to Mass Youth Soccer's
ANNUAL registration requirement. This means that
every year you must register with MYSA (even if you registered last year, you MUST register again this year). To do so, click this link:

If you are fully completed, your dashboard will look like this:
> Check your Compliance Dashboard. If it looks like this, you're all set! (Note that CORI Verified can only be done by the Risk Manager).
If it does not look like this, you still have requirements to complete!
If you have questions regarding your volunteer and adult registration, required trainings, your CORI and credentials, please email the Risk Manager at [email protected].
