Whether continuing from the Pre-K or K program or starting in Grade 1 or 2, Westborough Youth Soccer is a great place to learn the sport!
Starting in Grade 1, players are separated into girls and boys teams. Teams are also balanced based on skill level from coaches' feedback/evaluations, age, school, and team size.
Rules & Guidelines
Grade 1 / 2 Field Size
35 yards X 30 yards (L x W) with 10' x 5' goals.
All games are played at Chauncy Fields.

5 v 5 (4 position players and a goal keeper)
Coaches
Coaches are volunteers and are parents of players. Please consider volunteering with the WYSA program by signing-up as a volunteer during registration or after registration in your account under Volunteer Opportunities. For more information, please email [email protected].
Game Length
4 x 12 minute periods, with a 2 minute break between periods and a 4 minute break at halftime
Goalkeepers
No punting allowed
On goals kicks, opposing team must retreat to midfield before ball is put in play
Headers and Slide Tackling
Are not allowed due to safety concerns
Referee will award an indirect Free Kick to the opposing team
Throw-ins, Goal Kicks, Goalkeeper Distributions, Free Kicks
At referee discretion, retakes will be allowed to help players learn the proper form and mechanics
Equipment
Jersey shirts (One red and one white). Purchased during registration for $25.
Shinguards (covered by the socks) are mandatory at all practice and game activities.
Soft-cleated soccer shoes are highly encouraged.
No jewelry of any kind.
Plenty of water.
Jewelry / Casts
Players with plaster/fiberglass casts or hard splints, even if padded, cannot play—even with the permission of a parent or medical approval.
Players with orthopedic braces that have exposed or uncapped metal parts are also not allowed to play.
All items of jewelry (necklaces, rings, bracelets, earrings, leather bands, rubber bands, etc.) are forbidden and must be removed. Using tape to cover jewelry is not permitted.
Players with medical, religious, or cultural wearable items must have the item properly secured and protected (such as by taping down, covering, wrapping, or secured through other methods.) Medical information displayed on an item should stay observable.
Season
8 games are played each season on Sunday afternoons.
Referees manage the game and coaches stay on the sidelines.
Please support your referees, players, and coaches.
Fall season (September - November); Spring (April - June).
Practices
Scheduled by coaches. One per week, @60 minutes.
There are NO drop-offs for Grade 1.
Pre-Season and In-season Academy Sessions
Additional training sessions (4 weeks, once per week) run by professional coaches in an "academy" style for all players and coaches to attend.
Fees:
$125 per season (Fall or Spring)
Note: There are NO refunds with exception of verification of medical or move from Westborough.
